Summary

This position is located at the Peak but may fill other vacancies in the Business Recreation Division at Fort Drum, New York. It is with the Directorate of Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation (FMWR), which includes Child and Youth Services, Business Recreation, and Support Services. Incentives will NOT be paid.

Duties

  • Expertly mixes and serves a complete range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages while managing all financial transactions, including recording sales and handling cash or charge payments.
  • Maintains bar inventory by tracking beverage usage, submitting re-stocking requests, and verifying the quantity and description of all incoming supplies.
  • Ensures the bar, utensils, equipment, and entire work area are kept in a clean, sanitary, and orderly condition at all times.
  • Uses tact and professional judgment to deny service to individuals who appear intoxicated or become unruly, ensuring a safe and pleasant environment for all guests.

Conditions of Employment

  • Direct Deposit and Social Security Card is required.
  • Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
  • A one-year probationary period may be required.
  • Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
  • Regularly lifts and carries items weighing up to 20 pounds, occasionally up to 40 pounds. Stands for prolonged periods.
  • Work is primarily indoors; exposed to cuts and bruises.
  • Satisfactory completion of a minimum of 4 hours initial food sanitation and safety training within 30 days of employment and 4 hours refresher training annually.
  • This position requires a favorably adjudicated T1/NACI background investigation.
  • A physical examination, arranged by the employer, is required prior to employment.
  • Must be willing to accept intermittent, on-call employment. Work schedule will be irregular, including nights, weekends, holidays, and/or unique events.

Qualifications

Resumes must be two pages (or less) and should clearly demonstrate relevant experience, skills, knowledge and abilities. A qualified candidate must possess the ability to:

  • Mix drinks using alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages.
  • Perform simple arithmetic to calculate bills and make change.
  • Recognize and handle intoxicated patrons.
  • Recognize shortages of supplies and replace them as necessary.
  • Monitor and direct the work of other bar staff.
  • Meet state/local age requirements (18 years old) for the serving of alcoholic beverages by the start of employment, estimated to be 1/29/2026.
  • Physical ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 40 pounds.

  • This is a Standing Register job announcement creating a pool of qualified applicants. Candidates will be referred to hiring officials as positions become available.

  • Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs are NOT authorized.
  • This job falls under the Federal Wage Schedule (FWS) pay system; FWS employees earn overtime pay and may receive Sunday premium pay and night differential. Non-foreign overseas allowances, COLA, and differentials will NOT be paid.
