Heavy Mobile Equipment Repairer
Summary
This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for certain DoD personnel to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. This is a military technician position with the 99th Readiness Division, Equipment Concentration Site (ECS) 93, Fort Eustis, Virginia. This position may offer a $5,000 recruitment bonus.

Duties
- Troubleshoot, repair, modify and maintain a variety of construction, industrial, combat, tactical and power generation equipment.
- Repair and replace components of the cooling, braking, exhaust, power train, or hydraulic systems on combat and tactical, automotive, and powered support equipment.
- Remove, adjust or replace defective or worn parts and components.
- Perform operational inspections and insure vehicles are properly serviced and repaired; perform preventative maintenance checks and services; and perform minor body work.
- Assist higher graded repairers in the performance of more complex repairs such as removing, repairing or replacing major components such as engines, transmissions, differentials, steering boxes, and fuel injection pumps.
- Operate motor vehicles to check work.
Conditions of Employment
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- THIS POSITION REQUIRES ACTIVE MEMBERSHIP AS A SOLDIER IN THE U.S. ARMY RESERVE (USAR).
- Incumbent may be subject to mandatory drug testing as required to maintain a CDL.
- Incumbent must obtain and maintain a valid State Commercial Driver's License (CDL) at the Class level required, with appropriate endorsements, within 90 days of employment.
- This position requires a medical examination prior to employment.
- This position requires a Personnel Security Investigation.
Qualifications

However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials, that you possess sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a Heavy Mobile Equipment Repairer without more than normal supervision. To meet the screen out element, applicants should document experience or show the ability to do the following: maintenance, repairs, and replacements to component parts of heavy mobile equipment; perform preventive maintenance checks and services; conduct basic operational inspections to ensure the vehicles are properly serviced; and operate equipment to check work. Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
PHYSICAL EFFORT: Work requires frequent standing, bending, reaching, stretching, climbing, and crouching. Works on top of, under, or in tight compartments of equipment in cramped and awkward positions. Frequently lifts and carries items weighing up to 40 pounds.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed inside and occasionally outside. Incumbent is exposed to drafts, dirt, grease, oils, vehicle exhaust fumes, and some inclement weather. Subject to burns, cuts, scrapes, bruises, and strains.

- Permanent Change of Station (PCS) allowances may be authorized, subject to the provisions of the Joint Travel Regulations.
- New Army Reserve Military Technicians may be authorized moving expenses to their first official duty station.
- This position may offer a $5,000 recruitment bonus to newly appointed individuals (first Federal civilian appointment or a minimum 90-day break in service). The bonus is paid in one lump sum after entering on duty and requires a one-year service obligation to the Army Reserve Military Technician Program.
