Recreation Aid (Facility Aid) NF-01

Summary

This position is located at Fort Lee, VA - MWR Fitness Centers. This is an open continuous announcement to provide a ready pool of available applicants as needed. Applicants will be referred as vacancies occur.

Duties

• Assists the Facility Manager in the overall operation of a fitness facility. Circulates among patrons to assure service is satisfactory; provides information and general instruction on the use of equipment, facilities, and machinery.
• Assists in setting up for instructors, contractors, events, athletic activities, and related functions. Performs facility cleanliness and/or monitors contracts.
• Assists with publicity of programs and events and with the delivery and placement of posters, flyers and other promotional material. Issues/receives equipment to authorized users.
• Monitors fitness equipment condition; tracks maintenance and repair or replacement as appropriate. Cleans and performs minor maintenance on facility equipment.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Conditions of Employment

• Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.

• Must be able to work during the hours of operation, including nights and weekends.
• The dual compensation guidelines DO NOT apply to this position; all GS and NAF employees whether fulltime or part time are eligible to apply.
• Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2, to include a Tier 1 background investigation.
• Must possess the following within 6 months of employment: MWR Orientation Course, Customer Service.

Qualifications

No experience required.

Highly Preferred / Best Qualified: Minimum of 6 months experience working at a fitness or recreation facility.

Education

This job does not have an education qualification requirement.

Additional Information

Area of Consideration: This job is open to candidates who reside within a 30-mile radius of Fort Lee. (Military Spouses moving to the area within 30 days from the closing date and Involuntarily Separated Military (ISM) members claiming ISM Preference are included in this area of consideration.)

Allowances and Differentials: This job is part of a pay-banded system. Sunday premium pay and night differential pay may be authorized by the Garrison Commander. Non-foreign overseas allowances, COLA, and differentials will not be paid.
