Recreation Aid (Lifeguard) NF-01

Summary

This position is located at MWR, Community Recreation Division, Fort Sill, and will be referred out to Aquatics. The initial cut-off date for this vacancy is 01/13/2026, with additional applications referred as vacancies occur. Incentives will not be paid.

Duties

  • Serves as a lifeguard for indoor and outdoor pools and works under the direction of the Installation Aquatics Program Manager.
  • Employs safety rules for the protection of the pool guests.
  • Provides maximum pool area surveillance and responds to emergencies; rescues pool patrons and administers first aid as required.
  • Assists in maintaining the pool and area clean and free from any hazards.

Conditions of Employment

  • Direct Deposit and Social Security Card is required.
  • Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
  • Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
  • Continuous exposure to sun and prolonged periods of high temperature and humidity. In case of exposure to infectious disease, incumbent must obtain the Hepatitis B vaccination series within a 24-hour period.
  • Lifeguards must have good vision (corrected if necessary) while on duty to effectively recognize all emergencies, incidents and rule breaking.
  • Incumbent is required to follow environmental safeguards and wear personal protective equipment.
  • May be subject to additional background checks if required to have regular and recurring contact with children.
  • Fifteen (15) year old lifeguards must comply with the restriction of the DOL Child Labor Law.
  • All required certifications must be kept current.
  • Successfully complete all required background checks, including a health screening.
  • Must be willing to work irregular duties or when needed for special recreational events.

Qualifications

Resumes must be two pages (or less) and should clearly demonstrate relevant experience, skills, knowledge and abilities. A qualified candidate must possess the following certifications:

  • Lifeguarding and First Aid (American Red Cross or nationally recognized equivalent, i.e., Star Guard, YMCA, or ELLIS).
  • CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED or equivalent (American Red Cross or American Heart Association CPR/AED).
  • First Aid.

Education

This job does not have an education qualification requirement.

Additional Information

  • Area of Consideration: open to all qualified candidates worldwide. Military Spouse Preference (MSP) and Involuntarily Separated Military Preference (ISMP) eligible candidates are included.
  • Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs are not authorized.
  • This job is part of a pay-banded system. Sunday premium pay for regularly scheduled employees and night differential pay may be authorized by the Garrison Commander. Non-foreign overseas allowances, COLA, and differentials will not be paid.
  • Your application remains valid for 90 days and may be referred to hiring officials as new vacancies arise. May be converted to permanent without further competition.
  • This is an intermittent (Flexible) appointment with no guaranteed hours, normally scheduled between 0-40 hours per week.
