Recreation Assistant (Facility Assistant) NF-02
Summary
This position is located at Magrath Sports Complex but may fill other vacancies in the Business Recreation Division. The Directorate of Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation (FMWR) at Fort Drum is dedicated to enhancing the lives of Soldiers and their Families by providing essential support services and recreational activities.
Incentives and Bonuses: Incentives will NOT be paid.
Duties
- Assists the Facility Manager in daily operations, circulating among patrons to provide information, ensure satisfactory service, and give general instruction on the proper use of equipment and facilities.
- Manages facility readiness by adjusting for program changes, setting up for events and athletic activities, conducting classes, and performing or monitoring facility cleanliness.
- Handles equipment logistics, including issuing and receiving items for authorized users, assisting with property inventory, and monitoring equipment condition to track maintenance, repair, or replacement.
- Contributes to program promotion by assisting with the publicity of events and the marketing of posters, flyers, and other promotional materials.
Conditions of Employment

- Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
- A one-year probationary period may be required.
- Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
- Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with Army Regulation 215-3.
- This position requires a favorably adjudicated T1/NACI background investigation.
- Must be willing to accept intermittent, on-call employment.
- Management reserves the right to reassign employees to other facilities.
- Work schedule will be irregular, including nights, weekends, holidays, and/or unique events.
- Possess (or obtain by the projected start of employment, 03-2026) the following certifications: CPR, First Aid, and AED.
- Willing to complete (and maintain) the following certifications: MWR Orientation Course; Customer Service and Equipment (Safe Operation and Basic Maintenance Repair).
Qualifications
Resumes must be two pages (or less) and should clearly demonstrate the applicant's relevant experience, skills, knowledge and abilities.
A qualified candidate must possess at least six (6) months of directly related work experience that includes the demonstrated ability to operate multiple fitness facilities (e.g., assisting customers; setting up facilities for events/athletic activities; issuing/receiving fitness equipment).

Allowances and Differentials: This job is part of a pay-banded system. Sunday Premium and Night Differential pay have NOT been authorized for Flexible positions with no guaranteed hours. Non-foreign overseas allowances, COLA, and differentials will NOT be paid.
